Physiotherapy is the name given to the treatment of patients with electric current, hot or cold application, exercises or various waves to restore functional movements that have been lost due to reasons such as injury, disease, trauma or old age. Physical therapy covers a wide range of disease conditions diagnosed by physiatrists who have received physical medicine and rehabilitation specialization training after medical school.
Doctors and physiotherapists work together in relevant treatment centers. In medical terms, physiotherapy, which is defined as “treatment aimed at obtaining or restoring optimum neuromusculoskeletal function,” can sometimes take many years to implement.
The aim of physiotherapy is to ensure that individuals can perform vital factors in a healthy way. Physiotherapy includes elements such as emotionality and social relationships in addition to physical application. Before the treatment application, several laboratory findings and examinations are applied. Electrodiagnostic electromyography (nerve conduction velocity) test may be deemed necessary. There are facilities such as special care centers, geriatrics, neurology, fitness centers and sports training facilities that provide physical therapy.
